Forestry and Vegetation Mapping


Blom offers remote sensing based forest inventory products and services and are able to deliver inventory projects / services from planning to final product delivery. Blom has experience in delivering forest inventory products for over 3 million forest hectares in Europe and North America and has delivered over 15 similar projects in 2012 alone.

Blom’s method uses LiDAR, aerial imagery and field sample plots from the target inventory area. With these datasets stand attributes can be predicted by tree species.

In Scandinavia attributes are predicted for pine, spruce and deciduous trees. For each tree species many attributes are provided, including mean diameter, mean height, number of stems, basal area and volume.
